Adaptive and Intelligent Robots:
Present and Future

Second Announcement and
Call for Papers and Videos

Moscow - Russia
November 24-26, 2005

June, 1, 2005.
BACKGROUND

At the Versailles Economic Summit of 1982 an international collaborative project, now known as the International Advanced Robotics programme (IARP), was initiated. It activity is currently pursued in an open policy frame with the support of all member countries. In 2002, nations participating in IARP are Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, Spain, U.K. and USA, with New Zealand and EC as observers. The general ogjective of the IARP is: “To encourage development of advanced robotic systems that can dispence with human work for difficult activities in harsh, demanding or dangerous environments, and to contribute to the revitalisation and growth of the world economy”. This is subscribed by all these countries.

SCOPE

The Workshop will review and discuss the major advances in science and technology with respect to adaptive and intelligent robots. The state of the art and the tendency in the research and application of robotic systems with adaptive and intelligent possibilities will be the subject of the presentations.
The present and future of adaptive and intelligent manipulation and mobile robots is the scope of Workshop: “To the world of robotic machines with artificial intelligence”.

TOPICS

Specific topics include but are not limited to:
- methods of adaptation and artificial intelligence in mobile and industrial robotics;
- decision making procedure in robotics;
- integration of mechanical, electronical and informatic components into intelligent mechatronic systems;
- intelligent and adaptive microrobots and microsystems;
- sensors and sensory fusion;
- 3D vision systems;
- intelligent algorithms;
- control strategies for artificial intelligent;
- user interfaces to the artificial intelligent world;
- simulation and methods of virtual reality;
- adaptive and intelligent robots and their existing and potential applications in:
  • industrial manufacturing
  • medical and bioengineering systems
  • humanitarian demining
  • nuclear power stations
  • extreme and risky situations
- microrobots and artificial intelligent behaviour
